Bristol Recreational Centre
With the ambition to provide the opportunity for creative collaboration in Bristol, the proposal for the BRC building aims to create spaces for gathering, learning & showcasing local creative arts & talents.
It is proposed to replace two abandoned harbourside sheds at the South-end of Welsh Back. The 444m long street is situated approx 200m west of Queens Square with industrial and buildings being the most dominant. The street has, however, evolved from a typical industrial site to mixed land usage with restaurants, bars, apartments, and offices introduced over the last 2 decades.
The BRC introduces creative arts into the local community and provides opportunities for collaboration in learning, teaching, and showcasing through the integral blend of spaces across 3 levels including a double-height theatre for performances; recording and rehearsal studios for musical talents, dance studios, art workshops, classroom and multiple computer/ equipment rooms.
